Dink Pate capped off a productive stint in the NBA Summer League with a double-double to help lead the New York Knicks in a loss to the Washington Wizards on Saturday.
Pate produced 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and one steal in the 94-85 loss at the Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada. He went 7 of 12 from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range, in 26 minutes off the bench.
The undrafted guard scored 11 points alone in the first half to help the Knicks build a five-point lead at the intermission. He was active on both ends of the court and had perhaps the highlight of the game after picking off a pass and taking it for a windmill jam.
Pate finished summer league by averaging 9.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists on 50% shooting from 3-point range in five appearances with the Knicks. He also scored in double figures on Thursday after recording 11 points and seven rebounds in a loss to the Indiana Pacers.
The 19-year-old averaged 10.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 30.7% shooting from 3-point range in 50 games with Mexico City in the G League last season. He registered four 20-point games, including a season-high 26 points, six rebounds and four assists on Dec. 20.
Pate had a solid showing with the Knicks in the desert after going undrafted out of Mexico City. He reportedly agreed to sign with the team following the draft and will likely be in a developmental role next season on an Exhibit 10 contract.
