As the Philadelphia Sixers look for creative ways to improve the roster, the guys over at FOX Sports came up with an interesting trade proposal to ponder.

As the Sixers’ disappointing 2024-25 season came to a close, the fan base was looking for ways to move either star center Joel Embiid or forward Paul George. While both seem unlikely, their exorbitant salaries, coupled with their limited availability, make that possibility even less likely.

However, there is one major name that has been in the rumor mill as of late, one that has four MVP awards, is a 21-time All-Star, and a four-time NBA Champion.

LeBron James.

LeBron’s Current Contract Situation

James, who averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds per game last season, picked up his player option for the 2025-26 season worth $52.6 million, but also has a full no-trade clause.

While James suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in the Lakers’ first-round playoff loss against Minnesota, he should be good to go from the start of training camp.

So what kind of trade could the Sixers put together to obtain James from the Lakers?

FOX Sports presented three options for the Lakers, with the Sixers being one of the three teams, citing Philadelphia as a match for various reasons.

Why the Sixers Are in the Mix for LeBron

Those reasons include:

Philadelphia is better than its 24-58 record last seasonThe 76ers got the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA DraftThey also have 2024 first-rounder Jared McCain returning from a knee injury.Embiid, Maxey, and James: A Big Three?

The article mentions pairing James with Tyrese Maxey along with the team’s compelling young core in a wide-open Eastern Conference. With Embiid, Maxey, and James could give Philadelphia a legitimate shot at making a deep playoff run.

FOX Sports’ Trade Proposal BreakdownPhiladelphia could base a trade package for James around George and a future unprotected first-round pick (2030).

The Lakers get an immediate replacement for James in George and future draft capital for their troubles, while the 76ers shed future payroll and embark on a compelling, short-term experiment. And Philadelphia certainly qualifies as a big market, likely to James’ desire.

Adding James to the Sixers would allow them to get out from the final three years of George’s deal and would give them the chance to take a shot with a James, Maxey, Embiid core.

While James might not be a No. 1 star at this point, he would be a very good No. 2 or an elite No. 3 player.

Other Teams in the Running for LeBron James

The second team the article mentions as a fit to land James would be the Miami Heat, one of LeBron’s former teams, with this package of players:

And the No. 1 team that could land James in a deal?  The San Antonio Spurs.

San Antonio could offer Los Angeles Vassell, Harrison Barnes, and its 2028 first-rounder for James and Milton.
