Chris Paul has returned to the Los Angeles Clippers for one last ride.

40-year-old Chris Paul has one more year left in him. The veteran has signed with the LA Clippers, returning to his former team.

The move follows the Clippers signing Bradley Beal, and the team is now loaded up with older, experienced players.

Paul and Beal join James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Nicolas Batum and another free agent addition, Brook Lopez.

ESPN analyst Tim Bontemps quipped: “I’m all in on the Clippers going for the 2025 version of The Expendables. I think they’re going to be really, really good next season.”

Chris Paul spent several of the best years of his career with the LA Clippers, between 2011 and 2017.

During this spell he formed a spectacular partnership with Blake Griffin, the team known as ‘Lob City’ due to their highlight-worthy on-court connection.

Blake Griffin retired from the NBA in 2024, but seeing Chris Paul sign with the Clippers has NBA fans dreaming he could make a shock comeback.

“What’s Blake Griffin doing Clippers should re-sign him too,” one fan wrote on X.

“Can Blake Griffin come out of retirement too now?”, another asked.

“Sign Blake Griffin to a 10-day mid-season, give him that ring,” a Clippers fan wrote.

Another went a step further, posting: “Chris Paul to the Clippers just made my day. Let’s sign Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan while we’re at it.”

This was echoed with another account responding to the Chris Paul news, writing: “This just feels right. Bring Blake Griffin out of retirement and sign Deandre Jordan and let’s have some fun with the Clippers second unit!”

“Blake Griffin might as well end retirement and sign with the Clippers too,” posted another fan.

“I’ve seen enough bring back Blake Griffin,” added another message.

Blake Griffin’s final stint in the NBA came with the Boston Celtics in the 2022-23 season.

He is four years younger than former teammate Chris Paul, currently 36-years-old, but injuries took their toll on his body, prompting his retirement, which he announced in 2024.

With a two year break, it’s not inconceivable Griffin could come in for a specialist role for one reason, but he has given no indication he would be interested.

And for now, Griffin has other NBA-related commitments. He is set to be an analyst on Amazon Prime’s coverage of the sport for the 2025-26 season and beyond.

But after his previous spell with the Clippers ended on a sour note, it’s understandable fans want to dream about a fairytale return.
