Conley was at the 3M Open’s First Tee opening festivities interacting with fans along with Minnesota sports personalities like John Randle and Wally Szczerbiak.

Now nearly two months removed from the end of the Timberwolves’ season, Conley said there was an empty feeling being in the offseason but also expressed his optimism for the team’s future. He said he watched players like Rob Dillingham and Terrence Shannon Jr. play in the summer league and noticed their improvement.

Conley also talked about Nickeil Alexander-Walker leaving during the offseason. Conley said he has a close relationship with the now-Atlanta Hawk, which includes Alexander-Walker sending Conley new music to listen to.

“I just forget that he’s not going to be with us,” Conley said. “The friendship will always be there. I’m proud of him and everything he’s accomplished.”

Another storyline in the Timberwolves’ offseason has been the ownership change to Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore. Conley said he’s excited for the new ownership and the dispute being resolved.

“It’s good to finally know that it’s in their hands,” Conley said. “Looking forward to what they have in store for us.”

Conley is entering his 19th season in the NBA and fourth with the Timberwolves. He’ll be on the second year of his two-year extension that he signed in 2024.
