The NBA 2K26 Summer League concluded Sunday night with the championship and consolation games. Former Husker Jack McVeigh and the Atlanta Hawks ended the tournament with a 101-80 defeat to the Boston Celtics.
The Celtics controlled the game, maintaining a lead over the Hawks following the first quarter. Boston then busted open the lead in the second half, going up by as much as 24 points.
McVeigh scored eight points in the loss, going 2-of-5 from the floor, landing both of his shots from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
Kobe Johnson led the Hawks with 14 points. Adam Flagler furnished 13 points, and Nelly Joseph supplied 11 points.
McVeigh concluded play in the NBA Summer League for the Hawks with a strong showing. In four games, he averaged 14 points per game, which included two 20-point outings. His play helped Atlanta to a 4-1 record in the Summer League.
The former Husker got picked up by the Hawks for the Summer League after spending his rookie season with the Houston Rockets. He played nine games for the Rockets and the team’s G-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, last season.
Prior to the pros, McVeigh played three seasons at Nebraska before returning to his home country of Australia, where he spent time in the NBL from 2018 to 2024.
