The San Antonio Spurs are adding to their roster after being impressed with an NBA Summer League standout.
The San Antonio Spurs are a franchise set up quite well, not just for this season, but for future seasons as well.
The Spurs drafted Dylan Harper this year, marking their third consecutive top-five pick in the NBA Draft over the last three years.
Many feel that by adding Harper, the Spurs’ timeline to being a competitive team has begun. So much so that one NBA legend told Victor Wembanyama to adapt his game going forward.
The Spurs might have to address their De’Aaron Fox situation, as they now have three starting-level guards, none of whom would benefit from a stint off the bench.
But rather than making some moves to get rid of Fox or other players, the Spurs have actually added another star, one who impressed in Las Vegas.

Shams Charania reported yesterday that the San Antonio Spurs have agreed to a two-way contract with David Jones-Garcia, who had a great Summer League performance.
After averaging 21.6 points per game while shooting 53% from beyond the arc, Jones-Garcia is capitalizing on his great tournament, where he earned All-Summer League First Team honors.
“David Jones-Garcia – All-Summer League first team breakout guard – has agreed on a two-way NBA contract with the San Antonio Spurs.

New two-way star performed better than Dylan Harper in Las Vegas
A quick peek at their stats at the NBA Summer League shows that David Jones-Garcia had a much better tournament than Dylan Harper.
The table below shows their stats at the Summer League:
Player/Statistical CategoryGames PlayedPointsReboundsAssistsStealsBlocksDylan Harper2164.02.01.00.5David Jones-Garcia521.66.23.81.20.0
Yes, Harper didn’t get nearly as many playing opportunities, having played in just two games compared to the five games that Jones-Garcia did.
But the sheer contrast in their stats, given the caliber of player they are, is quite remarkable. However, don’t take this as a sign that Jones-Garcia will play more minutes than Harper.
The level of basketball played at the Summer League isn’t nearly as high as the NBA. But he will get his chances with the Spurs at a few points next season.
