Former Kentucky Wildcats guard Antonio Reeves had a solid rookie season with the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA. He played in 44 games and averaged nearly seven points per game, and made 40% of his three-point attempts. However, in a somewhat surprising move, they waived him this offseason.
Now, Reeves gets another shot with a new team after signing a two-way deal with the Charlotte Hornets. A two-way deal allows him to move back and forth between the G-League and the NBA club as needed.
Reeves became a star with the Wildcats in his two seasons in Lexington. In his final season, he averaged over 20 points per game while shooting 45% from three-point range. He was named first-team All-SEC for his efforts, then drafted in the second round by the Pelicans.
After a good rookie season, it was unexpected to see him let go. However, he certainly deserves another shot, and will now get it in Charlotte. Reeves was a fan favorite at Kentucky, and Big Blue Nation will be rooting for him in his new home.
