Not every NBA player finds immediate success, and some bounce around a little before they find their permanent home. Former Kentucky Wildcats guard Tyty Washington is hoping his newest team will be one he sticks with long-term.
Shams Charania of ESPN is reporting that Washington is set to sign a deal to join the Los Angeles Clippers. It’s a one-year contract, and gives Washington a chance to prove himself and earn a longer contract after the season.
Washington was drafted in the late first round by the Memphis Grizzlies, but was traded twice to join the Houston Rockets for his rookie season. He then wound up in Milwaukee with the Bucks for a season before spending last season in the Phoenix Suns organization.
At Kentucky, Washington proved to be a terrific guard capable of contributing in a number of different ways. He averaged over 12 points and nearly four assists and 4 rebounds a game and was Freshman All-SEC.
Big Blue Nation certainly wishes Washington the best of luck in L.A., and hopefully he’ll find a permanent home there.
