JD Davison and Isaiah Crawford are now on two-way contracts with the Rockets, per the NBA’s transactions log. Davison was G League MVP last season.

The Houston Rockets and Isaiah Crawford agreed to a two-way deal, sources told @hoopshype. Crawford averaged 13.3 points on 50.2% from the field and 44.7% from 3-point range, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.2 steals in the G League. The Houston Rockets signed forward Isaiah Crawford and guard JD Davison to two-way contracts on Saturday, per the NBA’s official transactions log. Both will presumably be brought to 2025-26 training camp, which will begin around October 1.

At the moment, Crawford, Davison, and Kevon Harris are the three recipients of Houston’s two-way slots, which allow players to go back and forth between the parent NBA club and their G League affiliate. In the case of the Rockets, that’s the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Vipers.

The Rockets had extended a two-way qualifying offer to center N’Faly Dante, who had played on a two-way deal last season, but the Oregon product has not signed it. He was injured with an ankle sprain during Houston’s recent stint at the NBA’s 2025 summer league in Las Vegas.

As things currently stand, this means a two-way slot isn’t available for Dante. However, the Rockets could conceivably still sign him to an Exhibit 10 training-camp contract (as they did recently with undrafted Mississippi State forward Cameron Matthews) and re-evaluate the state of the two-way slots after watching players in camp and the preseason. Teams are allowed to roster up to 21 players in the offseason before trimming down to a maximum of 15 standard contracts and three two-way slots for the regular season.

For offseason roster purposes, Houston still has multiple non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 slots available, which can potentially be used on Dante or others. Financially, the Rockets are quite limited in terms of standard contracts, since they’re hard-capped at the first apron this season.

Drafted in the 2022 second round out of Alabama, Davison is a 6-foot-1 guard who was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the G League last season. In 30 regular-season games for the Maine Celtics, Boston’s affiliate, Davison averaged 25.1 points (48.3% FG, 33.6% on 3-pointers), 7.6 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.

Crawford, a 6-foot-6 forward, went undrafted in 2024 out of Louisiana Tech and was subsequently signed by Sacramento. In 24 regular-season games with the Stockton Kings affiliate, he averaged 13.3 points (50.2% FG, 44.2% on 3-pointers), 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game.

Both Davison and Crawford have played only sparingly at the NBA level. They are 22 and 23 years old, respectively.
