RJ Davis has found a home in the NBA

Former North Carolina Tar Heels’ guard R.J. Davis will get another chance to impress in training camp.

After going undrafted and then signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis played for the team in the Summer League with the hope of landing a roster spot. On Saturday, the Lakers announced they had signed four players with Davis being among them.

The contract details are not out yet but it’s very likely an exhibit-10 contract for Davis which allows them to have the guard on their their roster for training camp. They can them convert the player to their G-League roster. Davis was signed along with Eric Dixon, Arthur Kaluma, and Augustas Marčiulionis.

Davis played five seasons at North Carolina, winning the ACC Player of the Year award in 2024. He appeared in 175 games and averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steals in 32.4 minutes.

It will still be a tough road ahead for Davis to crack the roster or earn a two-way contract but at least he’s getting the opportunity to. This also gives UNC fans another player to root for to make a roster during training camp.
