“You 1000 percent will be wearing a dress” – Richard Jefferson hopes Shaq will keep his promise of wearing a dress because Rudy Gobert is making the Hall of Fame originally appeared on Basketball Network.

Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert received another verbal abuse from Shaquille O’Neal during the latest episode of “The Big Podcast.” This time, the Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer admitted that he hates Gobert and declared that if the Frenchman makes it to the Hall of Fame, he’ll attend the ceremony wearing a dress.

Well, if you ask former NBA star Richard Jefferson, Shaq just shot himself in the foot because, no matter what he thinks, Gobert will be inducted into the Hall of Fame when he retires.

“Yo, Shaq’s going to wear a dress to a ceremony? That is awesome,” said Jefferson.

“That’s all I got, cuz Rudy Gobert is going to be a Hall of Famer. There is a 99.8 percent chance he is going to be a Hall of Famer based off of his Defensive Player of the years. Like there are people that have less than have gotten it. He is going to get in, and when you look at his contributions internationally, that also go into that. You know what I’m saying? Winning a silver medal for France. Like these are all the things that go on top of your resume that people don’t have. He’s 100 percent,” he continued.

Rudy is a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame

Gobert is one of only three players in NBA history to win the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award. The other two, the late Dikembe Mutombo and former Detroit Pistons big man Ben Wallace, are in the Hall of Fame.

Aside from his DPOY trophies, Rudy is also a three-time All-NBA and eight-time All-Defensive team selections. He has also made three appearances in the NBA All-Star Game and internationally, helped France win back-to-back silver medals in the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics.

If anything is lacking in Gobert’s basketball career, it’s an NBA title. While that is important for many players, it’s not a prerequisite for being inducted into the Hall of Fame, which gives Gobert a great chance and puts Shaq in a bad position with his dare.

“So, Shaq, congratulations. You 1000 percent will be wearing a dress. And I hope you’re not one of those who talk big then all of a sudden don’t fulfill that promise, cuz he’s going to make the Hall of Fame,” added RJ.

Shaq has plenty of years to prepare or retract

The good thing for Shaq is that it won’t be in the near future. That’s because at 32, Gobert just completed Year 12 of his NBA career, and he is still going strong. “The Stifle Tower” played in 72 games last season for the Timberwolves and averaged 12.0 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in 33.2 minutes of playing time. He has not missed more than a dozen games in each of the last five seasons.

Let’s say Gobert retires after the age of 36. He will be eligible for enshrinement four years later and could be inducted into Springfield in his fifth year of retirement. So that’s about nine to ten years from now, when O’Neal will be 62 or 63.

Shaq has always been a man of his word, but in this case, the dress that he showed on his podcast may not be appropriate by then. Perhaps he should borrow Larry Johnson’s grandmama costume instead. That’s still a dress, right?
