The LA Lakers have been adding to their roster, with an intriguing name now signed to a contract.

Following the addition of Marcus Smart, the LA Lakers have been rounding out their roster. One name to be aware of is Augustas Marciulionis.

Augustas Marciulionis is one of four developmental players to pen deals with the Lakers, along with RJ Davis, Eric Dixon, and Arthur Kaluma.

All four will feature at training camp and attempt to show what they are capable of, and are expected to spend time in the G League with the South Bay Lakers over the coming season.

Augustas Marciulionis is the son of Sarunas Marciulionis, who played in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets and Seattle SuperSonics.

Sarunas was the first ever Lithuanian player to make it to the NBA, blazing a trail for Kristaps Porzingis to later follow.

Now his son Augustas has a chance to make his name in the league.

The 23-year-old has spent his college years at St. Mary’s in Oakland, having made his professional debut as a teenager in Lithuania years earlier.

An interview with AP News earlier this year described Marciulionis as ‘basketball royalty’ back in Lithuania due to his dad.

But when asked if he was the Lithuanian version of Bronny James, he responded: “No. No, no. It’s not that.”

Marciulionis will now be sharing a court with Bronny James, and his dad, NBA legend LeBron James.

There is a bigger age gap with Marciulionis and his own dad, who is now 61-years-old.

What can Marciulionis offer the LA Lakers

Marciulionis is a 6ft 4″ point guard who made a strong impression at St Mary’s college.

“We’ve had a lot of good point guards… He’s at the top,” said his coach Randy Bennett.

St Mary’s described him as the ‘conductor’ of the team’s offense in recent seasons. He is one of only three players from the college to score 1,000 points and 500 assists.
