Q: Going forward, how will Erik Spoelstra tweak his offensive game plan to maximize Kel’el Ware’s skills. He is currently used to either set screens outside the 3-point line or stand in the corner waiting for a kick-out pass. There is little post play other than on pick-and-rolls.  – Michael, Boynton Beach.

A: If you are asking whether Erik Spoelstra is going to build an offense around a 21-year-old center, he is not. And he is not going to move in that direction until the basics are mastered, including setting a screen and holding the screen. Kel’el Ware as a lob threat and potential spacer is plenty at the moment for an offense that now has the scoring of Tyler Herro and Norman Powell. It’s simply too soon to overthink it with Kel’el.

Q: Interesting what you wrote about Pelle Larsson having to fight off Jaime Jaquez Jr. – Paul.

A: Um, don’t recall ever saying the two would meet in the octagon. What I did mention was that for as solid a summer as Pelle Larsson had, it would be foolish to write off Jaime Jaquez Jr. after a sophomore slump. And the reality is that he and Pelle Larsson do different things, making it a world where both could be in the rotation, particularly if the Heat were to make some type of consolidation trade down the road with the current roster.

Q: Why hasn’t Adam Silver said anything about Terry Rozier and all the problems gambling is creating? – Sid.

A: First, there is nothing to say at the moment about Terry Rozier unless something more substantive comes to light. As far as gambling and proposition bets, Adam Silver did address that at the Board of Governors meeting at summer league when he said, “In terms of specific prop bets, I think I’ve said this before, we do not have control over the specific bets that are made on our game. I do think some of the bets are problematic, and we, the league, wish we had more control legislatively over how our intellectual property is used for – in these betting companies.”
