After his rookie season and his outstanding Summer League play, a lot of NBA teams are probably regretting passing up Kyle Filipowksi when he was available to anyone in the first round.
Summer League Filipowski was especially good. While Kon Knueppel was named the MVP of the Finals, Filipowski was the overall MVP.
When he was asked about his outstanding performance, here’s what he had to say about why he did so well:
“I think just going into training camp and year two, just with the confidence and the comfortability. Just starting off with that, keeping myself in the right headspace. That’ll definitely help take care of the efficiency part, the stats part, the productivity. I feel like if I’m in the right headspace, then all of those other things physically will follow.”
The growth we’ve seen from Filipowski has been pretty phenomenal. At Duke, he was clearly promising, but he also made some of the same mistaker repeatedly. In the NBA, he’s really refined his game and cut down on his mistakes. Watching him grow so much has been a really great pleasure.
