Chicago Bulls assistant coach Wes Unseld Jr. in early July paid the $3.1 million asking price for a five-bedroom, 5,865-square-foot house in Lakeview.
Unseld was an assistant coach for NBA teams for 16 years until he was hired in 2021 as the Washington Wizards’ head coach. He left the team last year and was hired as the Bulls’ assistant coach.
In Lakeview, Unseld’s new house was renovated to the studs in 2014 and has a 24-foot-wide open floor plan, four full bathrooms, three half-bathrooms, two fireplaces, 14-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, new custom draperies on the main level, exposed brick walls in the living and dining rooms, bespoke finishes and a kitchen with a 15-foot island, professional-grade appliances and a butler’s pantry. The primary bedroom suite has custom window treatments and a California closet build-out.
The basement has a gym and a climate-controlled wine room, while outside, the house has a heated terrace off the family room and kitchen, as well as a rooftop deck. The home also has an attached, three-car garage.
Real estate agent Dionte Durham, who represented Unseld in the deal, did not respond to a request for comment.
The house had a $19,257 property tax bill in the 2023 tax year.
