The Milwaukee Bucks are teasing on social media an Aug. 1 reveal for what sure looks like a “Cream City” jersey reboot.

On Twitter, the Bucks posted,, “We heard you,” accompanied by a video graphic of endless social-media posts from fans clamoring for the return of the cream jersey, punctuated by the word “Tomorrow.”

The cream-colored delights, first used in 2017-18 and again in 2019-20, involved a color scheme that became unusable in NBA games because it clashed with the green-screen technology for digital advertising on broadcasts.

The cream color has been used in small doses, including on last year’s blue “City Edition” jerseys but couldn’t be the primary hue. But Dustin Godsey, the Bucks’ chief sales and marketing officer, revealed in November that the glitch had been fixed, opening the door for the cream-city return.

“Cream City” refers to a Milwaukee nickname, a nod to the light-colored, yellowish bricks — dubbed “cream city bricks” — that make up countless buildings throughout the city. The bricks were both exported and used in numerous Milwaukee construction projects, fashioned from a specific type of clay abundant in the Menomonee River Valley.

Even though production on the bricks in Milwaukee halted nearly a century ago, many local businesses have taken on an iteration of the nickname.
