LeBron James posted a photo on his Instagram on Thursday afternoon that could cause a bit of commotion, but it is not exactly what it looks like.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar raised some eyebrows when he posed for a picture in front of a Clippers logo for one of his offseason workouts. That was obviously a questionable decision considering that this is a crosstown rival of the Lakers, and Sports Illustrated coined it an “epic fail” by James.
It also comes shortly after LeBron was seen working out at the Cleveland Cavaliers practice facility earlier this summer.
So what is going on here? Is this a subtle shot at the Lakers during a petty rift as his future with the franchise is already a bit questionable, especially considering the Clippers are potentially one of the teams with interest in LeBron?
If you look at this photograph, sure, it looks like he’s aligning himself with the other team in Los Angeles.
But that is not what is actually happening in this photograph.
Klutch Sports Group confirmed to For The Win this photograph was actually taken at their offices in Playa Vista.
When the Clippers moved into their new arena, it included an 85,000 square foot practice facility. That means that they no longer needed the smaller Honey Training Center.
Klutch now uses the facility for its players to train in Los Angeles, so LeBron is just working out at his agency’s office and there is nothing to see here. They simply just have not yet switched out the branding.
