Pelicans sign former G-League leading scorer to two-way contract

  • August 1, 2025

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Pelicans have added another player to their overall roster, signing guard Bryce McGowens to their last available two-way spot.

NBA two-way contracts allow a player to split time with an NBA team and its G-League affiliate. Two-way spots do not count against full-time roster spots.

Two-way players are not eligible to play in the postseason unless they are converted to a full-time player contract before the deadline in early March.

NBA full-time rosters can hold up to 15 spots. The Pelicans’ full-time roster currently has 14 players under contract.

The two other players that occupy two-way spots with New Orleans are undrafted center Hunter Dickinson and guard Trey Alexander.

McGowens, 22, is a 6′7 guard who has appeared in 118 games with Charlotte and Portland, including 21 starts. His NBA career average is 4.8 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.

MORE PELICANS

McGowens spent most of his playing time in the G-League last season, where he was the league’s leading scorer. As a member of the Rip City Remix, he averaged 28 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.4 steals in 30 games, playing an average of 35 minutes per game.

He entered the NBA as a second-round pick out of Nebraska in 2022.
