In 2020, the Boston Celtics sent their draft rights to Desmond Bane to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a three-team deal; Enes Kanter was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers as a result. Since then, Bane has proven himself to be one of the better floor spacers in the NBA, while also flashing upside as an on-ball creator and multi-level scorer.
Earlier this summer, the Orlando Magic went all-in to bring Bane to Disney World, sending out Cole Anthony, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and four future first-round picks to get the deal over the line. Orlando’s push for Bane is the next step in the franchise’s development into a contending roster in the Eastern Conference.
During a recent episode of NESN’s “Hold My Banner” podcast, Adam Pellerin and Ountae Campbell discuss whether the Celtics made a mistake by trading Bane back in 2020, and how his presence could help the Celtics as they head into what projects to be a difficult 2025-26 NBA season.
