Former Nebraska basketball guard Bryce McGowens signed a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday. This was announced by the program on social media.
McGowens had a brief but productive career in Lincoln. He was a one-and-done standout for the Huskers. He averaged 16.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in the 2021-22 season. He was the program’s first-ever five-star recruit by 247Sports. He was also the program’s highest-rated recruit by Rivals at the time.

He has played in the NBA for several teams. He was drafted in 2022 with the No. 40 overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but was then traded to the Charlotte Hornets. He appeared in 105 games, starting 21. He averaged 5.2 points per game, 1.9 rebounds, and one assist per game in his rookie season.
He most recently spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers and Rip City Remix of the G League. He played in 13 games for Portland last season, averaging a point per game in 2.5 minutes.
Now, he will get a chance to make an impact for the Pelicans organization.
