FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — The 2nd annual Central Valley Prospects Elite Camp offered young girls’ basketball players the opportunity to train and learn from the best high school players in the area.
Young female athletes from 1st to 8th grade participated in a fun and engaging environment, regardless of their skill level.
The all-day camp ran on Saturday and Sunday at Fresno City College.
Some of the high school players- turned-trainers took the time to remember those who inspired them.
“There’s Athena Tomlinson, there was Maddie Campbell, Danae [Marquez],” said Clovis West junior Ramie Chatman. “I looked up to them when I was these kids’ age, and I wanted to be just like them. There’s already a lot of kids here that I’ve seen who are really good for their age.”
Others, like senior Sadie Sin, are emphasizing that basketball is supposed to be fun first. She looked up to her cousin and former Clovis teammate, Alyssa Kem.
“Being competitive is always a good thing, but also having fun at the same time,” said Clovis senior Sadie Sin. “I think nowadays, players are very young and playing very seriously and competitively, but I don’t want anybody to get burnt out at a very young age.”
Central Valley Prospects is the fastest-growing girls’ basketball brand in the United States.
Since its inception in May 2024, they have helped land its players nearly 30 scholarship offers and partnered with companies to assist with travel accommodations, recovery, and more at zero cost to the athletes.
