Ben Jacobson has inked a new contract to stay in Cedar Falls.Jacobson, the winningest men’s basketball coach in University of Northern Iowa history, has agreed to a five-year rolling contract, according to the UNI athletic department.”Entering his 20th season leading our men’s basketball team, Ben Jacobson is the personification of what it means to be a Panther,” UNI President Mark Nook said in a news release announcing the contract. “He not only led the University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball program to conference championships and NCAA Tournaments, but helped shape the lives of countless young men during their college years. Coach Jacobson leads with class and puts a special emphasis on academic success.”Jacobson has led the Panthers to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2010 after an iconic 3-pointer by guard Ali Farokhmanesh to clinch a victory over No. 1 seed Kansas.Jacobson is entering his 20th season as UNI’s head coach. Jacobson, the winningest men’s basketball coach in University of Northern Iowa history, has agreed to a five-year rolling contract, according to the UNI athletic department.
