The Habersham School has announced the hiring of Ben Essenburg as the new head coach of its varsity boys basketball team.Essenburg replaces Michael Jaudon, who has accepted a new position at Savannah State University as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.Essenburg brings nearly a decade of coaching experience across multiple sports and levels, including elementary, middle school, junior varsity, and varsity programs. Most of his coaching background is rooted in basketball, including experience with school-based teams and AAU programs.A native of Indiana, Essenburg played four years of collegiate basketball at Taylor University. He and his family relocated to the Savannah area four years ago after spending two decades in St. Louis. Outside of coaching, he currently works in the corporate office of Edward Jones, focusing on change and enablement initiatives.Essenburg expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season and the opportunity to lead the Patriots.“I’m ready to start, and I look forward to leading a basketball program at The Habersham School that students, fans, faculty, and alumni can all be proud of,” he said.The Patriots will begin preparations for the 2025-26 basketball season in the coming weeks.
