One former NBA champion and All-Star has the LA Lakers in his sights, but the LA Clippers are also a team he could sign with.

Both the Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers have been very active this summer. The two sides went to work after their first-round exits.

They started strong, with the Lakers signing Jake LaRavia and Deandre Ayton right out of the gate. Things only got better when the Lakers added Marcus Smart, with Luka Doncic’s help.

As for the LA Clippers, they did a good job in free agency as well, adding Brook Lopez. On top of that, the Clippers traded Norman Powell for John Collins.

Then, thanks to the buyout market, the Clippers added Bradley Beal, with Chris Paul returning to the Clippers just a few days later.

But the two sides could be ready to battle it out for the signature of a soon-to-be free agent, as one of LeBron James’ former teammates is looking for a new team.

According to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, Kevin Love is looking to join a team in Los Angeles. He is currently with the Utah Jazz, but is working toward a buyout.

Love would be open to reuniting with LeBron James on the Lakers, but the LA Clippers could also be an option for him.

“Word around the league surrounding Love is that he wants to end up in Los Angeles, sources said.

“There were some rumors that Love would want to go to New York, although there doesn’t seem to be much interest brewing from the Knicks.”

The Knicks were a team on Kevin Love’s list. But given their recent moves and roster extensions, they don’t have the cap space to sign him outright.

LeBron James could convince Rob Pelinka to land Kevin Love

As much as Kevin Love might want to join a team in Los Angeles, there are some hurdles in the way of that happening.

Both the Clippers and Lakers are right under the first apron of the salary cap. Signing Love outright isn’t an option, as they will go over the cap.

The Lakers and Clippers could try trading for Love, but given his age and his salary, the two sides would be giving up far more valuable assets.

Perhaps the two sides can waive some players in order to sign Love. But the risk with that is that the waived players need to find a new team soon, or their salary is going to be on their books.

It will be interesting to see where Love ends up by the start of the new season.
