We are firmly in a new era of WNBA basketball, with the game reaching never-before-seen heights in popularity across the country. The league’s popularity has coincided with the arrival of young stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese in the 2024 draft.

Clark and Reese aren’t just dominant forces on the court; both are also as box office as it gets, selling out arenas and making for must-see television. Unfortunately, both have been dealing with injuries throughout the season.

Clark is currently sidelined with a groin injury, the second time her groin has caused her to miss extended time this year. Meanwhile, Reese has been out with a back injury.

Now, there’s been an update on Reese’s status, but it’s not the sort of news fans will want to hear. Chicago Sky head coach revealed that there is still no official timetable for when the dominant forward will make her return.

Fans reacted to the tough update on social media.

“Season is done. Congrats Lynx on your free lottery pick,” one fan wrote on Twitter, noting how the Minnesota Lynx own the rights to the Sky’s 2026 first-round draft pick.

“The way Angel lives rent free in the haters heads. See them coming here to talk crap about her ‘quitting’ on her team,” someone else added.

“I just hope angel Reese is healthy in time for the playoffs,” one fan added, not realizing the Sky are extremely unlikely to make the playoffs this season.

Hopefully, Reese can make her return to the floor soon and finish the season with positive momentum.
