It’s hard to argue there’s a bigger star in North American sports than Indiana Fever phenom Caitlin Clark. However, some feel that the WNBA isn’t doing enough to protect Clark from a “hostile environment.”

A Wall Street Journal opinion piece was recently released, opining that if the WNBA won’t protect Clark, then the federal government should get involved to do so. Now, one prominent member of the sports mediasphere is saying that intervention from United States President Donald Trump isn’t totally out of the question.

“Stephen A. Smith thinks Donald Trump could get involved calling for an investigation into Caitlin Clark’s WNBA treatment. ‘If he gets involved and that base gets involved, because somehow, some way they embrace victimhood on the part of Caitlin Clark it could be a problem,’” reported Awful Announcing.

People reacted to Smiths’ take on social media.

“What happened to keep politics out of sports,” one person rote on Twitter.

“Trump would only point out her haters don’t like her because she is successful. She and he have that in common. Not a thing to do with race or victimhood,” someone else added.

Best believe the WH is looking at this, even tho Trump’s (numbers) are still high amongst his supporters. The WH is looking for anything to distract from Epstein and the poor jobs (numbers),” another person added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the President actually gets involved.
