The start of training camp for the 2025-26 NBA season seems a long way off, especially since we’re only about halfway through the summer. But it will arrive before we know it, and shortly afterward, opening night of the regular season will take place.
It is getting close to that time in the offseason when the full regular season schedule gets released for all 30 teams. In the meantime, the schedule for the first day of the regular season has been released, and it includes two intriguing Western Conference matchups.

In the first game, the NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder will get their rings as they host Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets. Afterward, the Los Angeles Lakers will host Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
Whenever Curry matches up against LeBron James, it is must-see television, and no one knows how many more times these two titans of basketball will play against each other.
Both teams made major changes midway through this past season. The Warriors traded for six-time All-Star forward Jimmy Butler, and, of course, the Lakers nabbed generational superstar Luka Doncic.

Both of these opening night matchups could very well be previews of playoff matchups that will take place next spring.
