Lincoln Christian’s Maddi Stewart, Melody Stewart recap Class 4A girls basketball title win
Lincoln Christian player Maddi Stewart and her mother, coach Melody Stewart, recap their Class 4A girls basketball title win Saturday night at State Fair Arena.
Maddi Stewart, one of the top players in Oklahoma high school girls basketball, has made her college decision.
The Lincoln Christian senior guard announced her commitment to Nebraska on Friday, choosing the Cornhuskers over Missouri, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Stewart, the daughter of Lincoln Christian coach Melody Stewart, led the Bulldogs to their first state title in March as they beat Douglass 39-36 in the championship game.
That capped a stellar junior season for the 5-foot-9 Stewart, who averaged 14.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game and was named to The Oklahoman’s Super 5 second team.
Stewart has been a consistent player for Lincoln Christian throughout her high school career, helping the Bulldogs make two championship appearances before they got over the hump this past season.
In her three years at the school, she has 1,242 points while averaging 13.5 per game. Stewart also has 727 rebounds with 7.9 per game in that category.
