Former Boston Celtics backup big man Mike Muscala is making the leap to the other side of the clipboard to join the Phoenix Suns as an assistant coach, according to recent reporting from HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. Per Scotto, new Suns head coach Jordan Ott previously worked with Muscala when the two were both with the Atlanta Hawks.
Muscala played 11 seasons in the league after being drafted out of Bucknell in 2013, playing for the Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Oklahoma City Thunder before he was dealt to the Celtics in 2023. His stay with the team was a short one, with the St. Louis Park, Minnesota native dealt to the Washington Wizards by Boston in the offseason of that same year.
