The Boston Celtics have waived two way forward Miles Norris per the team in a recent social media post. Norris had signed a two way deal with Boston late in the 2024-25 NBA regular season, and appeared poised to reprise his role until recently. No official reasoning has been given for the move, but the UC Santa Barbara alum may have been the victim of changing Celtics roster needs, with the team looking at least one down season in the wake of star Boston forward Jayson Tatum’s Achilles tendon injury.

With that injury, the Celtics began to shed salary ahead of a non-contending campaign. One of those moves, sending reserve forward Georges Niang into the Utah Jazz‘ cap space for two way wing RJ Luis Jr., likely brought back a player who better fits Boston’s new, longer-term developmental timeline.

Boston had already signed one of their two 2025 NBA second round draft picks in Max Shulga, and were almost certainly going to do the same with Amari Williams, potentially leaving Norris the odd man out.

Norris was solid as a two way player for Boston in his limited run at the NBA level, logging 2.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game across three contests.

At the G League level, Norris put up 14.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 39.3% from beyond the arc.
