Bucky McMillan is just three months away from embarking on his first season as Texas A&M’s new head coach, spending the entire 2025 offseason building his roster, which now includes 14 players, including 12 from the transfer portal. While things have quieted down with the 2025 football season just around the corner, news regarding the Aggies’ 2025 schedule was revealed late last week.
During former head coach Buzz Williams’ final two seasons at the helm, the new Maryland coach was determined to make the nonconference schedule ahead of the NCAA Tournament, which will continue under McMillan. However, before the regular season begins, Texas A&M will face Arizona State in an exhibition matchup on October 26, which will take place in the Fort Bend Epicenter in Houston, Texas.

Any tune-up before the season is needed for a roster that has not played a live game together, despite the talent level. Led by Indiana transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako, former Creighton guard Pop Issacs, and Alabama/Kansas transfer shooting guard Rylan Kennedy, Texas A&M should be one of the better shooting teams in the SEC, while the added depth at guard and the size in the frontcourt, which includes Texas Tech transfer Federiko Federiko.
Under former Duke star guard Bobby Hurley, Arizona State has been an up-and-down program, making three NCAA Tournament appearances in nine seasons, but did not qualify last season after finishing 14-18. Buzz Williams led the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament during his final three seasons, but never made it past the Round of 32.
