The Philadelphia 76ers acquired Quentin Grimes from the Dallas Mavericks at the deadline looking to get younger and to add another perimeter scoring guard to the roster. Grimes accomplished both as he just turned 25 and he averaged 21.9 points in the 28 games he played for Philadelphia after the deadline.
With that being said, Grimes is currently a free agent. The Sixers certainly have every intention of bringing him back, but at the moment, it’s hard to get a deal done when considering he is a restricted free agent and there really is no competition from any team to bring him back, the Sixers and Grimes are in a tough position at the moment in terms of working out a long-term deal.

That doesn’t affect Grimes’ position in the league among the top guards as HoopsHype ranked him No. 25 on their list of shooting guards in the NBA:
25-year-old 2-guard Quentin Grimes had a breakout second half of 2024-25 with the Philadelphia 76ers, putting up 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists to go with 1.5 steals on nearly 47 percent shooting from the floor. Of course, the Sixers were firmly in shut-it-down mode by that point in the season, playing without the likes of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey, giving Grimes free rein to show off his skill set in a no-pressure situation.
Grimes did well to take the opportunity by the horns and shine, playing some very impressive basketball on both ends of the floor, showing off a skill set replete with three-level shot-making and playmaking.
It remains to be seen what happens with Grimes as Philadelphia moves forward with the offseason, but the Sixers certainly seem ready to bring him back. It will be interesting to see how negotiations continue, but one can expect to see him back in a Philadelphia uniform on opening night in October.
