Former Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban knows a thing or two about finance after building an empire which also spans technology, media, and healthcare.

In his expert opinion, Cuban foresees the world’s first trillionaire being tethered to artificial intelligence and spawned from the strangest of places.

“We haven’t seen the best or the craziest of what [AI is] going to be able to do,” Cuban said during an appearance on the “High Performance” podcast. “And not only do I think it’ll create a trillionaire, but it could be just one dude in the basement. That’s how crazy it could be.”

Cuban is best known for his ownership of the Mavericks, his role on ABC’s Shark Tank, and his co-founding of Cost Plus Drugs. He also owns Landmark Theaters, Magnolia Pictures, and is chairman of AXS TV.

Cuban’s investments through his companies and his venture capital firm are extensive, covering various sectors including tech startups and media. Thus, Cuban is as qualified as anyone to predict the future of finance.

“The industry is changing so rapidly. The technology is changing so quickly. Somebody will come up with a new way to utilize it in a way we never thought about before,” Cuban said. “… Just like we saw from the early days of PCs, early days of networks, early days of internet, early days of mobile phones, the early days of 5G, there is always something bigger and better that is created by an innovative entrepreneur. But AI just dwarfs all that.”

AI is transforming various industries, including healthcare, finance, transportation, and education. Examples include disease diagnosis, fraud detection, self-driving cars, personalized learning, and chatbots. AI is expected to become increasingly integrated into daily life and Cuban seems bullish on that.
