UVA Athletics thought the big news was that they have a title sponsor for a new web series offering behind-the-scenes access to UVA Basketball.
The news to me: they’re doing a new web series offering behind-the-scenes access to UVA Basketball?
I had not previously been aware of that.
Just scoured the UVA Athletics website, and the series hadn’t been previously announced, so it’s not as if I missed out on anything.
OK, so, per the press release on this, which went out on Tuesday, Charlottesville Albemarle Airport is the title sponsor for “Proving Grounds – Preseason with Virginia Men’s Basketball.”
Good for the folks out at CHO.
I’m more interested in knowing more about the web series, which got a brief description in the press release that made the CHO sponsorship the focus.
From the release:
“‘Proving Grounds – Preseason with Virginia Men’s Basketball’ is a four-part all-access video series that will provide an inside look at the dawn of a new era for one of UVA’s most-storied athletic programs.”
One of?
I get it that women’s swimming has won five straight national championships, but we didn’t build a $150 million arena that fills up 15 times each fall and winter for women’s swimming.
I mean, do they even let people in to watch swim meets?
I’ll assume so, and move on.
The first episode of “Proving Grounds” is scheduled for release on Thursday, Aug. 21, with future episodes released monthly leading into the beginning of the 2025-2026 season.
I’ll make sure to fly out of CHO sometime soon – maybe next June, if there’s a need to take a flight out to Omaha, for instance.
