Jeff Teague thinks there are some problems with the LA Clippers after Bradley Beal made it clear he wants to win a championship.

The LA Clippers made some massive moves this offseason to improve their roster. With Steve Ballmer trying to bring this team their first championship, the owner opened up the checkbook.

After signing Brook Lopez in free agency, the front office ramped up its activity. The Clippers landed John Collins and traded Norman Powell in one of the more shocking moves this offseason.

Following this, the Clippers signed Bradley Beal after he agreed to a buyout with the Phoenix Suns. But they went over and above, as the Clippers also signed Chris Paul to be their backup point guard.

With this kind of roster, they have to be considered contenders. But Jeff Teague doesn’t think it’s that simple.

Jeff Teague spoke on his podcast recently about the LA Clippers. Reacting to Bradley Beal’s championship ambition with the Clippers, Teague pointed out a problem.

He believes the Clippers’ roster is too old. While they have a lot of talented players, they have too many isolation players, and won’t be able to put things together the right way.

“I just don’t think this is a good [team], I don’t think it is. Like, if this was three years ago, I’d be like, ‘It’s the best team you could put together right here.’ And now I think age is undefeated.

“That’s the oldest team in NBA history, bro. I love that group. It’s a good team, bro. I love that group. I just don’t like it when there are so many stars on a team.

“And they’re all old, so it doesn’t matter anymore. But it’s just… The best game they play, the way they play, is isolation basketball…

“I’m just saying the way they play is isolation basketball. Kawhi Leonard is one of the best isolation players. He plays isolation. James Harden plays like that. That’s a big two.”

Bradley Beal has a lot to prove next season

Jeff Teague isn’t the only person to make this point about the LA Clippers’ age. Kendrick Perkins called out the Clippers for their aging roster, calling them a retirement home.

At the end of the day, a lot of the Clippers’ success depends on the performance of Bradley Beal. Fans will remember that Beal was quite disappointing on the Suns, not delivering the way the team had hoped.

Now on the Clippers, if Beal is serious about wanting to compete for an NBA championship, he needs to deliver some championship-level basketball.

Kendrick Perkins believes Beal’s career is on the line next season, as he hasn’t played at the level he needs to in order to save his NBA career.

Hopefully, Beal reminds the Clippers and the rest of the NBA of the All-Star caliber player he is by putting up some great numbers.
