Caris LeVert is already feeling comfortable with Detroit Pistons

New Detroit Pistons forward Caris LeVert details how he ended up signing with the team on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 in Detroit.

The Detroit Pistons are adding another wing to their roster.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Pistons are signing free agent Javonte Green to a one-year deal. The terms of the contract are not yet known.

Green played in Europe for his first five professional seasons from 2015-19 and made his NBA debut at age 26 with the Boston Celtics in the 2019-20 season.

He has played for four teams over six NBA seasons, most recently starting the 2024-25 season playing 50 games for the New Orleans Pelicans before being waived on Feb. 20. He was picked up three days later by the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he saw 18 games of action in the regular season and another six in the playoffs.

For his career, Green has averaged 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, mostly off the bench. His best season came in 2021-22 with the Chicago Bulls, where he averaged 7.2 points per game while making 45 starts for the 46-win Bulls.

The 32-year-old Green brings experience off the bench, as the Pistons have been in the market for a backup forward. They now have 14 players on standard contracts and one open roster more than a month out from training camp.
