The Pistons lost their top three unrestricted free agents, all guards, this summer: Malik Beasley (unsigned), Dennis Schröder (Sacramento Kings), Tim Hardaway Jr. (Denver Nuggets). Beasley has money problems and is a subject of an FBI investigation related to suspicious betting activity during a 2023-24 game while with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pistons were prepared to offer him a reported three-year, $42 million deal in free agency before news of the investigation broke June 29, a day before NBA free agency.
In place of those three key players, the Pistons added Caris LeVert and Duncan Robinson, who played together at Michigan during the 2015-16 season.
