Continuity is always good for any sports team. Continuity among players allows teams to continue to grow together and gain valuable experience. Continuity among coaches ensures that players continue to get consistent messaging and instruction in the system in place.

The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team will aid that continuity heading into the 2025-26 season by re-signing one of their valuable assistants in Mark Fox. The school recently released the new contract and the details.

Fox’s new deal comes with a raise from $200,000 last season to $500,000 for the coming year. He will also get bonuses ranging from $20,000 for making the Sweet 16 to $100,000 if Kentucky wins the national championship.

Head coach Mark Pope is a big supporter of Fox, having gotten his first coaching opportunity under him with the Georgia Bulldogs. When he was originally hired, Pope called Fox “one of the most intelligent and most detailed-oriented coaches in all of college basketball.”

Kentucky was a great story last year, beating all expectations. This year, they are predicted to be an elite team, and the weight of expectations will be on the whole staff. Having that continuity on the bench will certainly help lighten the load.
