ESPN analyst and former NBA star Kendrick Perkins has revealed that he received death threats and horrendous messages after he brandished Giannis Antetokounmpo the ‘Robin’ on the Milwaukee Bucks.

Perkins take might have been seen as a stretch, but not one that was overly critical, suggesting that actually Khris Middleton had been the team’s go-to scorer. Perkins stated that Middleton is the ‘Batman’, with Antetokounmpo as ‘Robin’, with the Greek superstar playing second-fiddle offensively.

The former NBA center has stated that he received some dark messages after that take on the ESPN airwaves, when he had appeared on First Take. It comes as ‘Inside the NBA’ fans were left concerned with the early broadcast schedule released after an ESPN move, while another ESPN star also offered a ruthless take on Micah Parsons and the Cowboys.

Speaking on the ‘Road Trippin’ podcast, Perkins said: “I started getting a death threat. It was going to my wife’s account.

“This dude was sending me threat after threat. ‘I am going to kill your kids. I know where you stay. I am going to murder you.’ This was real life.”

The situation had been so serious that Perkins felt it necessary to inform ESPN about the messages he’d been receiving, with one individual arrested.

That year, Milwaukee had gone on to win the NBA Championship, with Antetokounmpo winning Finals MVP, dominating in the last few games of the series against the Phoenix Suns.

Perkins has become known for his hot takes on ESPN, not being afraid to hold back when he has something on his mind – being critical of Antetokounmpo on further occasions.

The Greek star appears to be wanting out of the Bucks, opening the door to a trade this offseason, with the Golden State Warriors said to be interested.

Antetokounmpo is said to be weighing up his future, looking to win another NBA championship, with the Bucks looking ways away from contending.

The team waived Damian Lillard this offseason, a move which Antetokounmpo did not appear to be too pleased with, while becoming close friends with the point guard.

After the season, Antetokonmpo said on his brother’s podcast: “I’m trying to win a second ring. Everybody plays to win, but me not having a second championship, I look back at my career, and everybody can say ‘Oh incredible career, active Hall of Famer, first ballot’ – whatever.

“But me, my personal goal, if I am not able to help my team win a second ring, I’m letting down myself. I really want to win a second one. Hopefully I do it, hopefully I’m healthy.”
