Amari Williams played just one season with the Kentucky Wildcats, but made a huge impact, helping to lead them to the Sweet 16. His combination of size, strength, shot-blocking, and passing ability made him one of the keys to their success.
After the season, his play, and his potential, led the Boston Celtics to select him with the 46th overall pick of the 2025 NBA draft. It was a good landing spot for Williams, with plenty of veteran talent, and a need for players with size.
On Friday, the Celtics announced that they have agreed to a contract with Williams, officially making him a member of the Celtics. It’s a two-way deal, meaning he can play with the Celtics for a maximum of 50 games, but can play with their G-League team as well. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Williams was one of two Wildcats drafted this season along with Koby Brea. Several others signed free agent deals with NBA teams or international teams. Big Blue Nations wishes Williams the best of luck in Boston, and will be rooting for him.
