Football season is right around the corner, and as part of their summer workouts, the Michigan men’s basketball team recently did some offseason training at the Big House. The Wolverines can be seen pushing trucks and sleds before playing football themselves.

Seeing these photos and videos got me thinking — which Michigan basketball player would do the best on the football team? Here are my three best guesses.

Tschetter plays like the Energizer Bunny — he hustles on both ends, routinely guards players larger than him, and isn’t afraid to get physical in the lane.

All those traits could make Tschetter an excellent edge rusher. He’s quick and wouldn’t be phased to go against gargantuan tackles, and I could picture him breaking out a creative spin move if he couldn’t bullrush past his opposing lineman.

In the video above, he’s the first player to push the 4 x 4 truck, all while keeping his back straight and pushing with his legs and not his back, two great traits for going against offensive linemen. Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito would love that enthusiasm.

Give him two tattoo sleeves, and all of a sudden, the Wolverines have Braiden McGregor 2.0.

Just imagine Bryce Underwood dropping back to pass in the red zone, searching for an option with pressure bearing down, and easily spotting the 6-foot-9 Johnson posting up a defensive back in the end zone.

Johnson also runs the floor well in transition, so he could be a vertical threat down the seam for the Wolverines.

In these workouts, the true freshman was showcased flipping some sort of strength training contraption (I think it’s supposed to be like those tires CrossFit people use?) and preparing to catch a pass.

While he lifted with his back more than his legs in the video, at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, McKenney has the measureables to be a good linebacker or play the Jabrill Peppers Swiss Army Knife role. With his shiftiness in the open court, he could also be a solid running back, particularly a third-down back who makes plays in space up the field.

Who do you think would be the best football player on the men’s basketball roster? Let us know in the comments.
