LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – From Pine Bluff to the NBA halftime court, 23-year-old Brooklyn Huskey may have danced on a collegiate level and gone on to be a dance teacher in Little Rock, but now she’s about to bring the Thunder with the Thunder Girls for Oklahoma City.
Huskey says she remembers the moment she found out days ago that she made the Oklahoma City Thunder Girls dance team.

“I was kind of star-struck. I couldn’t grasp it.” Huskey said. “Dance has been a part of my life for a very long time and after doing research, I fell in love with their dance team. I was at work, I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time. I wasn’t expecting to make the team.”

Trying to make the team was anything but easy, but for Huskey, it was well worth it
“The audition process itself was very challenging but exciting,” she said.
Huskey says she has been learning about dance since she was 3 years old and hasn’t stopped since. She graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 2020, where she was on the Sugar Bears dance team, and then she went on to teach dance at Rock City Dance Center, sharing her love of dance with many.

“It’s like a first love, for sure it was something I always connected to, it’s my favorite thing to do,” Huskey said.
She hopes all dancers in the state will remember that if they work hard they can reach their dreams too.
“I just really want to inspire and show them that dedication and loving what you do pays off in the end,” Huskey said.
