The Brooklyn Nets, like the other 29 teams in the NBA, had been waiting patiently for the entire schedule for the 2025-26 season to be released. Leading up to Thursday’s release of the full schedule, Brooklyn knew that they would not be playing on key nights like Christmas Day, but fans were still waiting patiently to see when their team would be playing.

As is customary for the NBA, the league tends to tease certain matchups and dates to get fans ready for the season earlier than usual. Unfortunately, those teases tend to apply to teams that are competing for championships and the Nets don’t fit that category right now.

As such, Brooklyn will have to get used to the fact that many of their games will not be shown to a national audience, unlike teams like the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder. With that being said, here are some takeaways from the Nets’ full schedule for the 2025-26 season:

Nets Open Their Season On The Road

Brooklyn will begin their season on the road against LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets on Oct. 22. This matchup should fairly interesting as both the Nets and Hornets are still in their rebuilding stages and thus, should be putting out some young talent on the floor.

Brooklyn’s Home-opener Against Cavs

The Nets’ first game at their home arena in Barclays Center will be on Oct. 24 against Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers were one of the best teams in the league, not just the Eastern Conference, last season and they return virtually the same team.

2025 NBA Cup Games Could Be Critical

For a team like the Nets where the goal is for head coach Jordi Fernandez to see what he has on the roster, there will be some growing pains. There isn’t expected to be much winning for a Brooklyn team still looking for their franchise player, but the 2025 NBA Cup could give them something to compete for amidst the projected losing.

Longest Road Trip Of The Season

From Jan. 25 to Feb. 1, the Nets will have to endure their longest road trip of the season (5 games) against some of the better teams in the league. Brooklyn should get some breathing room against teams like the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz, but they will have to bring their A game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and Detroit Pistons.

Just Two National TV Games

While the Nets having just two games on National TV (one of the games being on the Peacock streaming platform) makes sense, it’s still a massive decrease in national exposure. Last season, with Mikal Bridges having already been traded to the New York Knicks, Brooklyn had five games shown to a national audience.
