Draymond Green couldn’t help but take yet another jab at the Miami Heat fanbase while defending Jimmy Butler.

The situation between Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat became quite tenuous earlier this year. After Butler demanded a trade, the bridge between him and the organization was effectively burned.

He eventually got his wish, as Butler joined the Golden State Warriors, leaving the Miami Heat at the trade deadline.

One of Jimmy’s biggest supporters on the Warriors, surprisingly, was Draymond Green. In fact, Green initially praised Butler for his role on the Warriors.

The two have formed quite a strong bond. So much so that Green defended Butler after the Heat traded Haywood Highsmith. But one dig against the Heat wasn’t enough for Green.

Draymond Green took to Threads to talk about the Miami Heat trading Haywood Highsmith recently, attempting to defend his teammate.

He joked that the Heat fanbase wanted Jimmy Butler to come off the bench behind Highsmith, only for the Heat to trade Highsmith months later for next to nothing.

“Y’all (internet experts) wanted Jimmy to come off the bench behind dude, and 5 months later the Heat traded him for a bag of chips, that’s wild.”

The Heat traded Highsmith and a 2032 second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for a protected 2026 second-round pick.

This is a shockingly fast drop in value for Highsmith, whom the Miami Heat once considered an integral part of their future.

Jimmy Butler is thriving on the Golden State Warriors

As much as Jimmy Butler’s stint with the Miami Heat ended poorly, his move to the Golden State Warriors couldn’t have come at a better time.

Butler immediately became a fixture in the starting lineup, adapting really well to playing alongside Stephen Curry.

Heading into the new season, fans are excited to see the trio of Butler, Curry, and Draymond Green play an entire campaign together.

If the Warriors find success with their All-Star pairing, they could fight for their fifth NBA championship in 10 years.

However, the Jonathan Kuminga debacle has delayed the Warriors’ offseason plans so far, and they haven’t been able to improve their roster yet. Hopefully, the situation gets resolved soon.
