From college walk-on at Akron to earning NBA minutes his rookie year, new Wolves forward Enrique Freeman is a great story. The Wolves signed Freeman earlier this month to a two-way contract after Indiana withdrew its qualifying offer. Freeman played last year for the Pacers.

Our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson spoke with Freeman, via Zoom, to learn about his background and what drew him to the Wolves.

Freeman, 6-foot-7, was chosen by the Pacers with the 50th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He earned minutes in 22 games (one start), averaging 2.1 points on 43.2% shooting and 1.4 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per game. He also spent time last season with Indiana’s G-League affiliate.

In 16 G-League games last year, Freeman averaged 16.9 points on 53.9% shooting, 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 blocks in 33.6 minutes per game.

Freeman most recently caught the Wolves’ eye at Vegas Summer League while playing for Indiana. He averaged 16.6 points on 71.8% shooting, a Summer League-leading 9.6 rebounds (min. five games), 2.0 assists and 1.8 blocks in 27.8 minutes per game.
