Mark Pope and his staff have the BBN buzzing about this coming basketball season after a successful offseason rebuilding the roster.

Summer workouts have come to a close, and overall, the hype around the program seems very real heading into year two of the Pope era. The reason why? Some excellent roster building.

How good, though? Good enough to land one of the top rankings in the SEC per one outlet.

Rob Dauster and Jeff Goodman of Field of 68 recently ranked the offseasons of SEC teams, and the duo loves what UK did.

Giving grade rankings, Dauster gave Pope and his staff an A , while Goodman gave them an A-.

With several impact transfers, including Jayden Quaintance, Jaland Lowe, and Denzel Aberdeen. Paired alongside returnees in Otega Oweh, Collin Chandler, Brandon Garrison, and Trent Noah, and that’s a top-8 that pairs with some of the top teams in the country.

Then, once you bring up the recruiting class that includes Jasper Johnson, Malachi Moreno, Braydon Hawthorne, and Andrija Jelavic, all the pieces seem to be there to make a run this season.

Now that is, if they can put it all together. We have several months until the games start, but you have to love gaining some traction during talking season for college basketball. Could be a fun season!
