The Charlotte Hornets are hoping to break out of the doldrums with a strong performance this season.
The Charlotte Hornets have struggled to make an impact in the NBA for years now. Despite having a decent core of young players, the Hornets haven’t been able to put things together.
Under Hornets head coach Charles Lee, the squad has shown signs of performing well. But there hasn’t been much in the way of consistency.
LaMelo Ball has struggled to stay healthy, which has really cost the team. For them to find success, the young star must be more regular with his appearances.
After the Hornets drafted Kon Knueppel, they look ready to make a competitive splash in the now-depleted Eastern Conference. But what does their roster look like heading into the new season?

The Charlotte Hornets haven’t made much noise in the trade market or in free agency, but have made some strong moves.
This is what their roster heading into the new season looks like:

Losing Mark Williams in a trade to the Suns has left the Hornets depleted at the center position. Miles Bridges has proven that he can play at the position, which is why he gets the nod to start.
Mason Plumlee is 35 years old and doesn’t have the physical tools to be a starting center in the NBA anymore, which is why he will be part of the second unit.
Charles Lee must get the best out of the squad
Even on paper, the Charlotte Hornets do not have a very strong roster. As a result, Charles Lee will have to do whatever he can with the players he has available.
Much of the Hornets’ success will be dependent on LaMelo Ball and how healthy he is. At his best, he is an All-Star caliber guard who can play both ends of the court.
However, he has struggled to stay healthy, and often, his strong plays don’t lead to winning. Lee must instill a desire to win in the former All-Star.
Kon Knueppel and Brandon Miller could be two bright young stars who can shine. Knueppel was the best shooter in college last season, and Lee will hope to use his marksmanship next season.
With a young squad like this, the Hornets definitely have the potential to find success. But unless they make a splashy roster move, it’s hard to see them making a lot of noise in the Eastern Conference.
