CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) – The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) women’s basketball tournament is coming to Coralville. The four-day tournament will take place at Xtream Arena March 12-15.
Al 12 MVC women’s teams will compete in the event which culminates with a Sunday championship game.
This marks the first time since 2007 that the event will be held in Iowa. It adds an extra layer of excitement for the in-state coaches.
“Iowa has extreme, see what I did there, extremely good talent. There’s great talent all over this state. There always has been and there will continue to be,” Northern Iowa women’s basketball head coach Tanya Warren said. “Women’s sports have always, always been great. Now, it is getting the credit that it has so long deserved.”
“It’s just really exciting. I’m a small town Iowa girl. I love nothing more than to continue to be involved in this amazing sport in this state,” Drake women’s basketball head coach Allison Pohlman added. “People are constantly talking about women’s basketball. There’s an excitement, everyone’s invigorated and we can’t be more excited to come back here in March and be welcomed to Coralville.”
The tournament heads to Moline, Ill. in 2027.
