Curry expects major benefits from Butler’s first complete season in Golden State. The superstar joined the Warriors mid-season through a trade but will now have proper time to integrate with the system.
“It’s a great advantage. Doesn’t necessarily guarantee results, but I think it will really help us kind of hone in on what’s our best self, what everybody’s supposed to be, and give good expectations,” Curry explained.
The two-time MVP praised Jimmy Butler’s basketball intelligence and leadership qualities.
“Jimmy [is] such a high IQ dominant player, Draymond, I know he’s got a lot left, myself, so we’re gonna take advantage of it. Get prepared. Get on the same page.”
Butler’s impact already visible despite reduced scoring numbers, dismissed the age issue
Butler successfully elevated the Warriors during his partial season, reducing pressure on Curry while adding paint aggression.
His 17.9 points per game represented a career low, but Butler contributed 5.9 assists and 1.7 steals that showcased his versatility.
The Warriors reached the Western Conference semifinals last season before arguably falling due to Curry’s injury. With better health and full integration, expectations have risen considerably.
Curry dismissed age concerns surrounding the Warriors’ veteran core of himself, Butler, and Draymond Green, all in their 30s.
“With age comes wisdom…We are going to be well prepared for another run,” Curry said, expressing confidence in the team’s championship potential with their experienced nucleus intact.
