An NBA trade idea sending Keegan Murray to the Philadelphia 76ers and Jared McCain to the Sacramento Kings has been created.

NBA writer Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Sixers and Kings:

Philadelphia 76ers get: Keegan Murray

Sacramento Kings get: Jared McCain and Kelly Oubre Jr.

“McCain played 23 games last year with minimal stakes, so let’s be sure not to overstate how much he’s proved as a pro to this point in his career,” Hughes wrote. “His profile might be on equal footing with Murray’s, but should it be?

“Murray set the rookie record with 206 made triples, has been a durable three-year starter and would give the Sixers some badly needed three-and-D support alongside (or as a replacement for an injured) Paul George.

“Meanwhile, the Kings can’t feel good about an offense run by some combination of Dennis Schroder and free-agent target Russell Westbrook. Murray is a favored son in Sacramento, but he’s approaching restricted free agency and makes more sense on the Sixers’ roster.”

The Sixers and Kings missed the 2025 playoffs. McCain was the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, while Murray was the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

McCain appeared in only 23 games for the Sixers last season due to knee surgery. He averaged 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.7 steals while shooting 46.0% from the field, 38.3% from beyond the arc and 87.5% from the free-throw line.

Meanwhile, Murray played in 76 games for the Kings in 2024-25. He averaged 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.9 blocks while shooting 44.4% overall, 34.3% from 3 and 83.3% from the foul line.

McCain will make $4.2 million next season, while Murray will make $11.1 million.

If Murray doesn’t get a rookie-scale extension before the 2025-26 season starts, he will become a restricted free agent next offseason.
